Privacy Policy

Summary

Toff is a Chrome extension that helps insurance agents prepare ACORD 35 cancellation forms and compare policies or quotes. Toff processes everything on your own device. It has no backend server, no user accounts, and makes no network requests. Your documents and the information extracted from them never leave your computer and are never sent to us or to any third party.

What information Toff handles

Toff works only with the documents you deliberately upload into it (a policy declarations page, quote, or similar — as a PDF or image). From those documents it extracts fields such as the insured name, property or mailing address, policy or quote number, effective and expiration dates, carrier name, and coverage, premium, and deductible figures. You may also enter your own agency/producer details (business name, address, phone) once, which Toff reuses to fill forms.

Toff does not access your browsing history, other browser tabs, the content of any website, your location, your system information, or any data other than the documents you choose to give it and the agency details you enter.

How that information is processed

All reading and extraction happen locally in your browser:

• PDF and image text is read using libraries (pdf.js, Tesseract OCR) bundled inside the extension.
• Field extraction uses Chrome's built-in on-device AI (Gemini Nano) when available, which runs entirely within Chrome on your machine. When on-device AI is unavailable, Toff falls back to a local pattern-matching pipeline. In both cases, document content is processed on-device and is not sent to Google, to us, or to any cloud service.

Toff makes no outbound network connections of any kind. There is no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, and no remote code.

Where information is stored, and for how long

Toff stores a small amount of working data only in your browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) on your own device. Nothing is stored on a server, and nothing is synced to your Google account or any other device. Stored items are:

• the current working session (the fields extracted from your uploaded documents);
• your agency/producer details, entered once and reused;
• minor convenience data (carrier-name history and interface counters).

Retention controls:

• Automatic expiry. The working session cache carries a timestamp and automatically expires 24 hours after it was saved. When you next open Toff after that period, the expired session is deleted and the panel starts empty. (Expiry is checked and enforced when the side panel is opened.)
• Clear Session. A control that immediately clears the current working session when you are finished with a document or client. (It leaves your saved agency details in place.)
• Delete all Toff data. A control that permanently removes all Toff data from the device — the working session, agency details, carrier history, and all counters — returning the extension to a first-run state.
• Removing the extension from Chrome also removes its local storage.
• Managed deployments may set a configuration flag to disable persistent caching entirely, so that the working session is held only in memory for the duration of a panel session and nothing is written to disk.

Permissions Toff requests

Toff requests only two Chrome permissions:

• sidePanel — to present its interface as a Chrome side panel.
• storage — to keep the working session and your agency details on your device, as described above.

Toff requests no host permissions and uses no content scripts, so it cannot read or change the content of any website.

Third-party components

Toff bundles the following open-source libraries locally within the extension; none are loaded from the internet at runtime: pdf.js (Apache-2.0), Tesseract.js (Apache-2.0), and pdf-lib (MIT). A full software bill of materials with versions and file hashes is available on request.

Data sharing and sale

Toff does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any user data with anyone, because no data leaves your device.

Children's privacy

Toff is a professional tool for licensed insurance agents and is not directed to children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised "Last updated" date. Material changes affecting data handling will be reflected in the extension's Chrome Web Store listing.
